Description  A creamy, delicious rice pudding. One of Pushpa’s favourite deserts.

Secret Tip  Pressure cook the rice with milk


  1. 1cup raw Rice (preferably not Basmati or Jasmine)
  2. 4 cups 2% Milk or Skimmed Milk
  3. 1 cup Half & Half or Whipping cream
  4. 1 cup sugar
  5. pinch os salt
  6. 2 – 3 pods of Cardomon
  7. 1 handful of raw unsalted Cashews
  8. 1 tbsp butter/ghee

Preparation Method

  1. Cook the rice with the milk in the pressure cooker. After you hear the pressure cooker whistle lower the flame and let it cook under pressure for 10 mins. Let it cool down and open the pressure cooker lid carefully.
  2. Crush the cardomom with a mortar and pestle to a fine powder.
  3. Roast the cashews in the butter
  4. Mash the rice with a large spatula or heavy wooden spoon
  5. Cook rice again on stove top for 10 to 15 mins. Add the cream/half and half.  Add more milk based on desired consistency.
  6. Add sugar and salt to taste. Add the cardomon powder.
  7. Garnish with roasted cashews
