Description  A tangy dhal made with raw mangoes

Ingredients

  • 1 cup Tuvar dhal
  • 1/2 cup chopped onions
  • 4 green chillies
  • 1 cup grated raw mango ( sour variety without the skin)
  • 1/2 tsp turmeric powder
  • 4 pods garlic
  • 1/2 tsp mustard seeds
  • 5-6 curry leaves
  • 2-3 red chilles
  • 1tsp oil
  • salt to taste

Method

  • Boil the dhal with turmeric and salt
  • Heat the oil in a kadai.
  • Add the mustard seeds, curry leaves, red chillies and garlic.
  • Add the onions and saute till light brown in colour
  • Add the green chillies and grated mango and cook till the mango is soft.
  • Add this to the cooked dhal and simmer for a few minutes
